Dear Parents,

It’s been a short, but busy 2nd week of school.  We have lots of coughs going around so PLEASE remind your child to cover his/her mouth when coughing.  (I tell them to cough into their sleeve)  We want to keep our classroom as healthy as possible.  I am trying to recover from this nasty cough/sore throat this weekend too!  If you feel like your child is really sick, please keep them home until they are feeling better.  Here is a look at what is going on in kindergarten next week:

Morning Meeting:

  • Sharing topic: tell your favorite color and shape (please refer to sharing schedule that was sent home on Friday)  Help prepare your child for what they will present to the class

  • Building stamina for independent reading and buddy reading
    • We met our independent reading goal of 15 minutes and we reached 13 minutes for our buddy reading stamina chart…WOO HOO!
    • Introduction and rules to classroom library
    • Introduction to center rotations; we will practice rotating between: independent reading, buddy reading and library
    • “Who let the letters out?” song for letter sounds and recognition
    • Sight word songs for: I, like, am
